I would like to recommend ALL THE DECKS - and you’ll be able to find a running deck release thread on my blog coming this February, but for now here are a few that you can pre-order if you’re so inclined. I’m not affiliated in any way, nor am I sponsored at this time (maybe someday?) I am just a gal who loves tarot and wants to share the new shinies with anyone who’ll listen
1 - The Alleyman Tarot - by SevenThireenBooks on Kickstarter (preorder phase now)
This deck is a must-have for chaos goblins like myself. This 137 card deck illustrated by dozens of different artists is attributed to “The Alleyman” - a fictional character well versed in divination - was a booming success on Kickstarter when it originally launched with over twenty thousand backers pledging nearly $2million USD. Beyond the amalgam of artistry, this deck’s cult following has spawned a very active Facebook group for backers and future owners of The Alleyman Tarot. Even if the chaotic nature of this deck doesn’t jive for you, you can’t deny the unique splendour of this endeavour.
2 - La Flora Tarot by LaLuli on Indiegogo originally launched on Kickstarter and we are in the home stretch now! This is personally my most anticipated deck of the year. The artist strove for opulence and if their Kickstarter updates are accurate, it looks like opulence will be ours! A fun take on tarot that exhibits the complexity of flowers and how they connect us to the archetypal representations that we are familiar with through tarot. As a super extra bonus, the artist is Canadian! I’m always eager to see some Canadian representation.
3 - Little Wisdoms Tarot by The Tower Witch was another Kickstarter launch that is topping my list of eager to handle decks for early 2022. The softness in the nature themed deck is evident and the foil accents really come together to make a sublime specimen of tarot. The minor arcana are more pip-ish than I generally prefer my decks to be, but the full bright illustrations around the positioning of the suit representations is beautiful enough to yearn to add to any deck collector’s trove.
Do you have any highly anticipated decks coming up? Do any of the ones I mentioned rub you the wrong way? Please let me know what you think!
